This week, in story-arcs

8–14 June 2026

PIB published 250 releases this week · we curated 32 into 32 arcs.
Editor's note — Aditya Tiwari Sir

The week's defining number is an arc of distance: India entered the elite club of nations able to intercept ICBM-class missiles as DRDO flight-tested a multi-layered ballistic missile shield and the maiden NASM-MR, even as Dr Jitendra Singh projected the space economy leaping to USD 45 billion in a decade on 400-plus start-ups. Governance got a frame and a deadline: PM Modi chaired the 11th NITI Aayog Council on Inclusive Human Development, while I&B's draft rules folded television and radio into the Telecom Act 2023, finally burying the 1885 Telegraph Act. Markets opened up too, from the gazetted Coal Exchange Rules and the BHAVYA portal for 100 industrial parks to the India-Nepal UPI-NPI remittance corridor. Welfare quietly saturated: West Bengal became the 36th State/UT under AB PM-JAY, PMSMA turned ten, and BBBP nudged the sex ratio at birth to 929. Threading it all was the West Asia crisis, managed through 51% fertilizer stocks, an excise cut and a 200-litre diesel cap. Aditya Tiwari Sir's tip: link the Telecom Act 2023 to the Coal Exchange Rules and BHAVYA as a single story of legacy-law reform and market-led, digitally-governed state-building toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
