Posted On: 27 MAY 2026 10:12PM by PIB Delhi National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, successfully conducted a one day national workshop titled “Empowering Dam Safety: Interactive Familiarisation with RRSSD & RBSD Digital Platforms of NDSA” on 27 May 2026 at the Library Building Auditorium of the Central Water Commission, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. The workshop was organised in hybrid mode with participation from stakeholders across the country. The workshop brought together senior officials from State Dam Safety Organisations (SDSOs), Dam Safety Units (DSUs), dam owning agencies, Central Water Commission (CWC), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), CWPRS NHPC, SJVN, THDC, NEEPCO, UJVNL, BBMB, technical experts from C-DAC and experts associated with dam safety and disaster resilience. The inaugural session of the workshop was addressed by Shri V. L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Shri Anupam Prasad, Chairman, Central Water Commission and Shri Anil Jain, Chairman, NDSA. During the programme, the Secretary released the National Register of Specified Dams (NRSD) 2026 and launched the DHARMA (Dam Health and Rehabilitation & Monitoring Application) Mobile Application. The workshop focused on strengthening institutional capacity and operational preparedness in dam safety through hands on training on advanced digital initiatives developed by NDSA, particularly the Rashtriya Bandh Suraksha Darpan (RBSD) and Rapid Risk Screening of Specified Dams (RRSSD) platforms. RBSD was presented as a national digital dashboard designed to enhance flood risk awareness, support dam break analysis and facilitate informed decision making for dam safety management. Technical experts from NDSA and C-DAC conducted detailed sessions on the methodology, features and live demonstration of the RBSD portal. The RRSSD platform was showcased as a standardised rapid risk assessment framework aimed at identifying vulnerability indicators in specified dams, prioritising dams requiring detailed investigations and generating consistent risk profiles using a unified methodology. The workshop also featured a live demonstration of the DHARMA Mobile Application and its enhanced features, along with a dedicated technical session on alert generation, dissemination and information flow for dam related events including integration with CAP-SACHET system of NDMA. State representatives shared experiences and success stories related to dam safety implementation and digital initiatives. The event highlighted the importance of technology driven solutions for improving dam safety monitoring, emergency preparedness and disaster resilience in the country. The workshop also reaffirmed NDSA’s commitment towards effective implementation of the Dam Safety Act, 2021 through institutional strengthening, digital transformation and capacity building initiatives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Rakesh Toteja, Member (Disaster & Resilience), NDSA. **** ND/HM (Release ID: 2266087) Visitor Counter : 1613 Read this release in: हिन्दी Ministry of Jal Shakti National Dam Safety Authority conducts workshop on “Empowering Dam Safety: Interactive Familiarisation with RRSSD & RBSD” in New Delhi Posted On: 27 MAY 2026 10:12PM by PIB Delhi National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, successfully conducted a one day national workshop titled “Empowering Dam Safety: Interactive Familiarisation with RRSSD & RBSD Digital Platforms of NDSA” on 27 May 2026 at the Library Building Auditorium of the Central Water Commission, R.K.
