Program strengthens regulatory knowledge, quality standards and technical competencies in ASU&H sector Posted On: 22 MAY 2026 7:30PM by PIB Delhi The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H), under the Ministry of Ayush, successfully concluded a five-day Capacity Building Training Program for Drug Enforcement Officers, Quality Control Personnel and manufacturers of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) drugs today in New Delhi. The training programme was organized from May 18 to 22, 2026, with the objective of strengthening regulatory understanding, enhancing technical capabilities and promoting quality assurance mechanisms in the ASU&H drug sector.A total of 28 participants from regulatory bodies, research councils, pharmaceutical industries and academic institutions across the country attended the programme. The first two days of the programme featured technical sessions on pharmacognostic identification of ASU&H drugs, phytochemical analysis and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), along with hands-on laboratory training in Pharmacognosy and Chemistry laboratories. On the third day, lectures were delivered on shelf-life studies and regulatory frameworks. Participants also undertook industry visits to Dr. Willmar Schwabe India Pvt. Ltd. and Hamdard Laboratories for practical exposure to industry practices and quality systems. The fourth day included sessions on microbiological evaluation and regulatory aspects, accompanied by practical laboratory training. The final day focused on pharmacological studies, GMP and standardization of metal and mineral-based drugs. The inaugural session was graced by Jaspal Kaur Pradyot, Chief Controller of Accounts, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, as the Chief Guest. Abdul Qayum, Director (Technical) & Deputy CEO, National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of Ayush, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Raman Mohan Singh, Director, PCIM&H, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. The valedictory session was graced by Maneesha Upendra Kothekar, Chairperson, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, as the Chief Guest and Pramod Kumar Pathak, Principal Consultant & Retd. Special Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, as the Guest of Honour. The programme served as a comprehensive platform combining expert lectures, practical laboratory training and field exposure.
