APPAREL SCHEMES UNDER 'MAKE IN INDIA' PROGRAM IN TEXTILES SECTOR

Posted On: 27 MAR 2026 2:48PM by PIB Delhi 'Make in India' initiative was launched on 25th September 2014 with the objective to facilitate Investment, foster Innovation, build best in class Infrastructure, and make India a hub for manufacturing, design, and innovation. Presently, Make in India 2.0 focuses on 27 sectors including 15 manufacturing sectors. The list of sectors under Make in India 2.0 is enclosed at given below. To strengthen the domestic manufacturing capacity, enhancing exports, generating employment and reducing the import dependence across multiple strategic sectors, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have been implemented across 14 key sectors including textiles. The PLI schemes have facilitated fresh investments in the identified sectors and supported the expansion of manufacturing capacities. The Government is also implementing the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme to promote production of MMF Apparel, MMF Fabrics and Products of Technical Textiles to enable textiles industry to achieve size and scale and to become competitive. As on date, a total of 96 companies have been selected under the PLI scheme for Textiles, out of which, 39 are registered under the MSME category. The overall performance of the PLI Textiles scheme as on 31.12.2025 is as under: Investment: ₹7,970 Crore Employment: 31,283 jobs Exports: ₹902 Crore Turnover: ₹9,154 Crore With a view to boost the Technical Textiles sector in the country, Ministry of Textiles launched the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) in the year 2020 with a financial outlay of Rs. 1,480 crore. The mission covers Research, Development and Innovation along with indigenous development of related machinery, Market Development, Export Promotion, and Education, Training and Skilling in the field of technical textiles.
