REVISION OF ECONOMIC INDICATORS AND MONITORING FRAMEWORKS Posted On: 16 MAR 2026 3:03PM by PIB Delhi Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released the revised estimates of Consumer Price Index (CPI), based on 2024=100, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), based on 2022-23, on 12th February, 2026 and 27th February, 2026 respectively. With regard to base revision of Index of Industrial Production (IIP), it is planned to release the revised estimates based on 2022-23 in May, 2026. National Industrial Classification (NIC) is maintained and periodically updated by the MoSPI in alignment with the corresponding International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) maintained by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD). The NIC is revised whenever the corresponding international classification, i.e., ISIC, is updated by the UNSD. The current version, NIC-2025, was published by the Ministry in November 2025 and is aligned with the latest international version, ISIC Revision 5. As per the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, the Ministry is mandated to monitor projects costing 150 crore and above (modified vide Amendment series no.384 dated 07.02.2026). The Ministry monitors the projects through online portal/ web monitoring system "Project Assessment Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation-Building (PAIMANA)" which is integrated with Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s portal Integrated Project Monitoring Portal (IPMP). Line Ministries/Departments/ Implementing Agencies regularly update the information of projects on IPMP and the same is fetched from IPMP to PAIMANA via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The new series of CPI and GDP has been released on 12 th February and 27th February, 2026 respectively. The revised Index of Industrial Production (IIP) series with the new methodology is planned to be released in May 2026.
