The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and YRGCARE (Operational arm of YR Gaitonde Medical, Educational and Research Foundation) have signed a MoU to develop cooperation in research on infectious diseases and the topics of relevance in Public Health. The partnership aims to combine strengths of JNCASR, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in multidisciplinary scientific research with YRGCARE’s decades of expertise in AIDS prevention, treatment, patient care and clinical practice. A key component of the agreement is the establishment of the Suniti Solomon Research Laboratory at the JNCASR campus in Bengaluru. The laboratory will serve as a hub for collaborative research and enable scientists from both institutions to pursue interdisciplinary projects, including cohort-based studies and training the next generation of scientists, students and young researchers by enabling direct exposure to real clinical challenges. Under the MoU, JNCASR will provide space and support for the research through access to its advanced instrumentation, research facilities, and academic programmes. YRGCARE will establish and equip the laboratory and contribute its expertise in clinical research and cohort development to support joint projects. Secondly, the partnership includes creation of the YRGCARE–Suniti Solomon Distinguished Faculty Fellowship at JNCASR. Funded by YRGCARE for a five-year term, the fellowship will support a new faculty member (preferably women) who will lead a research laboratory at JNCASR while contributing to its academic programme. The MoU, effective for an initial period of five years, reflects their shared commitment to scientific excellence, ethical practices, and innovation aimed at improving public health outcomes. Through joint research, resource sharing, and academic programs, the partnership seeks to foster impactful discoveries and strengthen research ecosystem relevant to India’s Public Health.
