Rural Local Bodies of Assam Get Over Rs. 299 Crores as Fifteenth Finance Commission Grants

It entails 2 nd installment of untied grants of the financial year 2025-26 amounting to Rs.256.60 crores. These funds are for all eligible 27 District Panchayats (DPs), all eligible 182 Block Panchayats (BPs), all eligible 2192 Gram Panchayats (GPs) and all eligible 3 Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) namely Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) in the State of Assam. Further, Rs. 42.70 crores of withheld portion of 1 st instalment of untied grant for FY 2025-26 has also been released to additionally eligible 3 ADCs (BTC, KAAC & DHAC). Government of India through Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Ministry of Jal Shakti (Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation) recommends release of XV-FC Grants to States for Panchayati Raj Institutions/ Rural Local Bodies that is then released by Ministry of Finance. The allocated grants are recommended and released in 2 installments in a financial year. The Untied Grants will be utilized by PRIs/ RLBs for location-specific felt needs, under the twenty-nine subjects enshrined in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, except for salaries and other establishment costs.
