This week, in story-arcs

27 April – 03 May 2026

PIB published 229 releases this week · we curated 42 into 42 arcs.
Editor's note — Aditya Tiwari Sir

Two arcs ran the length of the week. The India–New Zealand FTA, signed Monday at Bharat Mandapam, kept generating follow-through — export-council meetings, the AYUSH Health & Traditional Medicine annexe, the textiles angle — so we have merged all of it into one card; learn the FTA as a single object, not five releases. The other constant was the West Asia energy response, briefed every single day; it is not a founding entity, but the Essential Commodities Act 1955, the LPG Control Order 2000 and the new Natural Gas & Petroleum Products Distribution Order 2026 are the examinable spine, so we rescued it as one running card. May Day pushed governance and welfare to the front: the Online Gaming Rules, Census 2027 houselisting, the Cell Broadcast / SACHET disaster-alert system (announced Tuesday, launched Saturday), and UPI's tenth anniversary all landed in a tight window. The PMGSY-IV roll-out recurred across four days (J&K, then Odisha) and the Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme across two — both quiet recurrers worth a revision pass, not a skim. Watch next week for the 4 May counting under the new QR-ID system and the Char Dham use of Cell Broadcast.
