Cabinet approves National Green Hydrogen Mission
Outlay ₹19,744 cr. Targets 5 MMT per annum production capacity by 2030 with 125 GW renewable energy
addition for electrolyser power. Two financial-incentive schemes: SIGHT for electrolyser manufacturing
and green hydrogen production. The single PIB release that became the source for
UPSC Prelims 2023 Q60, Q99 and Prelims 2026 Q45.
SIGHT Scheme Component-II — Tranche-II of Green Hydrogen production bids opened
450,000 TPA capacity awarded to seven bidders. Reliance, NTPC, Adani, JSW lead bidders. Discovered
strike price ₹397/kg, down 38% from Tranche-I. Pairs with PRID 1888547 as the implementation update.
Defines green hydrogen as that with non-biogenic GHG emissions less than 2 kg CO₂-equivalent
per kg H₂. Production methodology — electrolysis or biomass conversion — must be certified by a
designated agency.
India-EU Green Hydrogen & renewable energy partnership signed
Joint declaration during EU-India TTC second ministerial. Commitments on standards-harmonisation,
