What happened
- The DRI seized 1 lakh Tramadol and 1 lakh Tapentadol tablets bound for Nigeria.
- The consignment was declared as Pregabalin capsules at the Mumbai Air Cargo Complex.
- The Tramadol was clandestinely manufactured at a factory in Ambernath, Maharashtra.
- Follow-up searches seized tablet compression machinery and raw materials.
- Three key accused were arrested — the exporter, supplier-coordinator and manufacturer.

What it is NOT: This is diversion of legally manufactured pharmaceutical molecules, not plant-based narcotics — the control problem is licensing and export verification, not cultivation or interdiction at a border.
