The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 13 containers at Kandla Port after finding that dry dates declared as UAE-origin had in fact been shipped from Pakistan.
What happened
- The DRI seized 364 metric tonnes of Pakistan-origin dry dates worth about ₹3 crore.
- Thirteen containers were intercepted at Kandla Port.
- The goods were declared as originating from the UAE but were of Pakistan origin.
- They had been routed from Pakistan to Dubai and then shifted onward.
- India prohibits imports of merchandise originating from Pakistan.
