Engineers take on the loom at IIT Delhi

Handloom Hackathon 2.0 concluded at IIT Delhi with 2,500 participants competing on loom modernisation, design innovation, sustainability and market access for weavers.

What happened

For UPSC: A technology-meets-livelihoods item. Use it for the handloom sector and rural non-farm employment, technology in traditional crafts, geographical indications and design protection, and innovation ecosystems linking institutes to artisans.
What it is NOT: This is an innovation competition producing prototypes and proposals — not a scheme, funding announcement or deployment of technology to weavers.

Over 2,500 participants and 280 finalists at IIT Delhi's technology transfer foundation, working on loom modernisation, design, sustainability and market access.
