Gaganyaan's building blocks are in place
A status update on the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme reported the human-rated launch vehicle, orbital module propulsion, life-support engineering model, crew escape system and ground infrastructure developed and tested — with the first crew-escape test flight and air-drop tests completed.
What happened
- The HLVM3 human-rated launch vehicle has all propulsion stages and structures ground-tested.
- Crew Module and Service Module propulsion is developed, tested and qualified; an ECLSS engineering model is realised.
- The Crew Escape System has five motor types static-tested and all structures qualified.
- Ground facilities built include the Gaganyaan Control Centre, crew training facility and Second Launch Pad modifications.
- TV-D1 validated the Crew Escape System in flight; IADT-01/02 validated the deceleration system.
