PM signals tougher action on paper leaks — building on the 2024 anti-cheating law

The Prime Minister announced that stricter measures against exam paper leaks would be taken up by the Cabinet — reinforcing the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which criminalises leaks and organised cheating in public recruitment and entrance exams with heavy penalties.

For Prelims

For UPSC: A governance-and-education item — protecting the integrity of high-stakes public examinations. Use it for the Public Examinations Act 2024, examination reforms and the NTA, the paper-leak problem and student trust, and the state's role in ensuring fair, credible recruitment/entrance exams.
What it is NOT: This is an announcement of forthcoming/strengthened measures (a signal of Cabinet action), not itself a new enacted law. The Public Examinations Act 2024 already exists; the aim is to further tighten enforcement and deterrence.
