Ayushman Bharat's next phase: NHA review puts financial sustainability and digital health centre-stage

The National Health Authority concluded a two-day national review (Chintan Shivir) on AB PM-JAY and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, charting the next phase of health reforms — with a focus on financial sustainability, strengthening public hospitals, and using AI, health analytics and interoperability to deepen digital health.

What happened

For Prelims

For UPSC: A key health-governance item — the maturing of Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY insurance + ABDM digital health) and its next-phase priorities. Use it for universal health coverage, health financing and sustainability, digital public infrastructure in health (ABHA), and Centre-State cooperation in health.
What it is NOT: This is a review/priority-setting meeting (Chintan Shivir), not a new scheme or a budget announcement. AB PM-JAY and ABDM are existing programmes; the focus is on sustainability, utilisation and digital adoption.
