The Central Bureau of Narcotics dismantled a sophisticated mephedrone (MD) manufacturing lab in Pune and arrested two chief conspirators under 'Operation Vajra' — a months-long interstate probe that earlier seized over 50 kg of the synthetic drug and 261 kg of precursor chemicals.
What happened
- The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) dismantled a high-tech mephedrone (MD) manufacturing lab in Pune under 'Operation Vajra'.
- It arrested the two chief conspirators (from Ujjain and Jodhpur) under the NDPS Act, 1985.
- Officers seized sophisticated machinery, precursor chemicals, lab equipment and safety gear.
- It continues a probe from February 2026, which earlier seized 43.82 kg of mephedrone and 261.32 kg of precursor chemicals at Mhow.
- The absconding mastermind, who used forged identity documents and changed locations, was tracked and arrested.
