What happened
- The Election Commission of India issued notifications on 6 July 2026 for bye-elections to three Assembly constituencies.
- The seats are 22-Datia (Madhya Pradesh), 145-Manjalpur (Gujarat) and 182-Bankipur (Bihar); the nomination process has commenced.
- Schedule: nominations close 13 July, scrutiny 14 July, withdrawal 16 July, poll on 30 July, counting on 3 August, completion by 4 August.
- Under Section 135B of the RP Act, 1951, every eligible employed voter — including daily-wage and casual workers — must get a paid holiday on poll day with no wage deduction.
