The first Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan brought the Centre and states together as 'Team Rural Development' to shape a roadmap for rural schemes — and saw the launch of a first-of-its-kind AI-enabled Rural Internal Audit Portal to make spending more transparent.
What happened
- Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the two-day Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan in Delhi, framing it as a 'Team India – Team Rural Development' effort to take 'Viksit Bharat' to the ground.
- On day one, senior officials and experts deliberated on rural-development schemes; on day two (29 June), Rural Development Ministers from all states and UTs will discuss policy directions and a collective roadmap.
- The Minister launched the 'Rural Internal Audit Portal' — a first-of-its-kind, AI-enabled, unified digital platform for end-to-end management of internal audits (risk-based and compliance).
- It was conceived by the Ministry's Chief Controller of Accounts and developed with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
