PM Modi will make a State Visit to Seychelles (27-29 June) as Guest of Honour at its National Day Golden Jubilee — becoming the first Indian PM to address its National Assembly — anchoring India's 'Vision MAHASAGAR' and Global South partnership in the Indian Ocean.
What happened
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a State Visit to Seychelles from 27-29 June 2026, at the invitation of President Patrick Herminie, as Guest of Honour at the Golden Jubilee of Seychelles' National Day.
- The PM described Seychelles as a valued maritime neighbour and key partner in 'Vision MAHASAGAR' and the shared commitment to the Global South.
- He noted 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of India-Seychelles diplomatic relations, rooted in mutual trust, shared democratic values and respect for diversity.
- He will become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles and will interact with the vibrant Indian community there.
- Building on President Herminie's State visit to India (February 2026), the visit aims to strengthen friendship and advance security and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.
