India to host the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting in Gurugram

Under its 2026 BRICS Chairship, India will host the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting in Gurugram on 25-26 June under the energy theme 'Energy for All', pushing energy security, access and clean-tech innovation across the now-11-member bloc.

What happened

• India will host the 11th BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting on 25-26 June 2026 in Gurugram, Haryana, under its BRICS Chairship 2026 (India's fourth, after 2012, 2016 and 2021).
• The overarching BRICS theme is 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'; the Energy Track theme is 'सर्वेषां ऊर्जम्' (Energy for All).
• BRICS now has 11 members — Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE — about half the world's population and ~40% of global GDP.
• India's three priorities are energy security & sustainability; energy access & equity; and technology & innovation; it is the world's 3rd-largest electricity producer and consumer.
• India highlighted solar capacity up ~50x in a decade, 60 million+ smart meters, a 410 GWh storage target by 2032, and initiatives like OSOWOG, the ISA and the Global Biofuels Alliance.
