What happened
- INS Tarkash, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles, on 12 June 2026, during its ongoing operational deployment to the South-West Indian Ocean Region.
- The ship had escorted the Seychelles Coast Guard ship PS Zoroaster from India to Seychelles, on completion of the latter's refit at M/s GRSE, Kolkata — reflecting a lasting maritime partnership spanning construction and sustainment.
- The transit underscored interoperability to effectively address shared maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
- During the visit, the Commanding Officer is scheduled to call on senior Seychelles government and Defence Forces functionaries, with cultural and social engagements during the stay.
- Critical spares and essential stores will be handed over to the Government of Seychelles — strengthening camaraderie, mutual cooperation and bilateral ties between India and Seychelles.
