In the run-up to International Day of Yoga 2026, the Ministry of Ayush will host a worldwide live-streamed session targeting a record for the most viewers of a YouTube Live yoga stream, with participants from 130+ countries.
What happened
- As part of the celebrations leading up to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, the Ministry of Ayush — with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) and Habuild — will organise a global online yoga event on 14 June 2026.
- The event aims to create a new world record for the Most Viewers of a YouTube Live Yoga Stream, bringing together practitioners and wellness enthusiasts worldwide on a single digital platform.
- Participants from over 130 countries are expected to join, and registered participants will receive digital participation certificates via WhatsApp.
- Union MoS (Independent Charge) Ayush Shri Prataprao Jadhav, with senior Ministry officials, will participate — leading by example in promoting wellness.
- The initiative is designed to showcase the universal appeal of yoga as a tool for holistic health, reinforcing the message of yoga as a way of life that transcends geographical, cultural and linguistic boundaries.

- International Day of Yoga (IDY): Observed on 21 June (the summer solstice). The UN General Assembly proclaimed it via Resolution 69/131 on 11 December 2014, on India's proposal — endorsed by a record 175 member states; first observed in 2015.

- Don't confuse: IDY (21 June, UN-designated) is distinct from this 14 June run-up online event (a record-attempt curtain-raiser). 'Ayush' is a ministry/system grouping, not a single therapy.
